Lipid Genomics Inc., a UConn Health startup, wins biologic patent. Lipid Genomics reports that its exclusive lymphocyte activation gene-3 (LAG3) biologic patent has been issued an allowance by the US Patent Trademark Office. The LAG3 biologic may provide physicians and other healthcare providers a unique therapeutic to manage cardiovascular and immune diseases in their patients. It was invented by Dr. Annabelle Rodriguez, M.D., endowed professor in the Department of Cell Biology at UConn Health in Farmington, Connecticut, and licensed exclusively to Lipid Genomics, Inc.

Dr. Annabelle Rodriguez, Founder of Lipid Genomics Inc., a UConn Health startup, has been elected to the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering (CASE). Dr. Rodriguez was selected from among Connecticut’s leading experts in science, engineering, and technology. Election to CASE is based on scientific and engineering distinction through significant contributions in theory or applications, and as demonstrated through the pioneering of new and developing fields and innovative products, outstanding leadership of nationally recognized technical teams, and external professional awards in recognition of scientific and engineering excellence.
